New routes, new deals from Salt Lake City
Delta Air Lines is forging a couple of brand-new transborder routes out of Salt Lake City this winter, one north, the other south. Both come with introductory discount airfares: $159 between Salt Lake City and Winnipeg (YWG), and $149 from Salt Lake City to Guadalajara (GDL). The Guadalajara deal entails a round-trip purchase. The Winnipeg offer does not. You'll have to make the Guadalajara purchase no later than October 9 to land the deal; October 17 for the Winnipeg discount airfare. Neither taxes nor fees are included in either offer. Delta is due to begin Guadalajara service from Salt Lake City on December 2, 2006. Salt Lake City to Winnipeg is set to take wing on January 8, 2007. Guadalajara will be a thrice-weekly affair; Winnipeg will be daily. .
Student Universe: $100 Munich Airfare Discount

We found one for $677.73 New York-Munich June 21 -- add the plus plus ($299.50 taxes and fees) for $977.23 round trip; $877.23 with the Student Universe promotional code. Ouch. Travel headlines have been proclaiming higher summer airfares to Europe, and man, is it true. Since Student Universe can usually be counted on for some very decent student airfare discounts, we looked for a few other ways to get to Munich on a dime this summer -- and the dimes added up. Let's analyze the options. Fly to London first Cheaper US-London fares can always be counted on -- it's a little closer, after all. We found a roundtrip student airfare from Student Universe at $438.45 + $250.20 taxes and fees for $688.65 leaving NYC on June 6.
Sarasota sojourn - JetBlue’s introductory deal
Discount airline JetBlue's New York (JFK) to Sarasota/Bradenton (SRQ) route just got off the ground, and with it comes an introductory one-way discount airfare of $59. To revel in this Florida fare you have to book by October 5, and travel by December 15. The deal entails a 14-day advance purchase, and is good for passage only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Neither taxes nor fees are included. They're extra. Regular fares on the JFK to Sarasota/Bradenton run will range from $99 to $299. .
