The kids are grown, the house is too big to care for, the rent is too high. People decide it's time to move into a smaller place for any number of reasons. But a smaller home means less space for that old chest Grandma handed down, the painting a child did back when he was in elementary school and a million other possessions. Unless you want to shell out extra cash for a storage unit, downsizing is in order. The only problem is where to start. Virginia Cosper is moving from her four-bedroom home in Corona to a three-bedroom place in Salem, Ore., and she's having a difficult time parting with things she knows have to go. "It's very difficult, especially getting rid of things my children have given me," she said. "It's really the toughest part of moving, but you can't hang on to things forever." Barry Izsak, president of the National Association of Professional Organizers, deals with this type of situation all the time.
Davis seeks standard IT breach notification policy
Federal agencies have been losing laptop computers, including those with personal data, without public notification and sometimes undetected by the government.
Agencies are finding out now, and disclosing the information, because House Government Reform Committee chairman Tom Davis (R-Va.) requested summaries of data breaches over the last several years.
As a result, the situation requires a strong governmentwide policy on public notification, including strengthening legislation he has introduced, Davis said.
The most flagrant violator among agency responses so far is the Commerce Department, which reported that 1,137 laptops had been lost, stolen or misplaced since 2001. It also is missing 46 flash or thumb drives and 16 handheld computers.
TOGO: 7 political parties, civil society represented in new Togo cabinet
Lome, 09/22 - Seven political parties and civil society organisations are represented in Togo`s new 35-member cabinet announced Wednesday and headed by opposition leader and Prime Minister Yawovi Agboyibo.
President Faure Gnassingbe`s Rally of the Togolese People (RPT) and its affiliates have the lion`s share of 19 portfolios.
Ten portfolios are shared by the opposition parties - three for Agboyibo`s Action Committee for Renewal (CAR), three for Leopold Gnininvi`s Democratic Convention of African People (CDPA), two for Edem Kodjo`s CPP and one each for PSR and PDR. .

Great film acting results from an empathic collaboration between actor and director. However much a director guides theater actors, the performers are ultimately alone onstage. In a film, we are permitted to see a performance as a montage pieced together by director and editor. Movie technicians can undermine a good actor as decisively as they can redeem a bad one. In "The Strange Door" (1951), one of five twisted, mediocre films collected in "The Boris Karloff Collection," Karloff makes a belated entrance as servant to maniacal sybarite Charles Laughton, who upstages him mercilessly with eye-rolling theatrics. Yet director Joseph Pevney gives the parting close-up to Karloff, who uses every muscle in his face to milk his lines. For a moment, you think, this may be fun after all two incorrigible hams warring over the camera.
