| Art world guerrilla targets Disneyland
BANKSY, the "guerrilla artist", has struck again - this time with a striking life-size structure of a Guantanamo Bay detainee at Disneyland. The work features a hooded figure in an orange jumpsuit with manacled hands and feet beside the Rocky Mountain Railroad ride. It is understood that the work, by the notoriously secretive artist, stood there for 90 minutes before the ride at the California theme park was halted and the figure removed. .
College president dies at beach
The president of State University of New York's University at Albany died in a possible drowning at South Beach on Hilton Head Island on Sunday. Kermit L. Hall, 61, and his wife, Phyllis, were rescued by beachgoers from 75 to 100 yards offshore near the heel of the island at about 2:20 p.m., authorities said. Kermit Hall was unresponsive, prompting bystanders to perform CPR until emergency crews arrived. Hall was pronounced dead around 3 p.m. at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. An autopsy will be performed today, said Capt. Bob Bromage of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. Hall's wife was not injured. President of the New York university since 2005, Hall was also a history and law professor. Previously, he was president of Utah State University, provost and vice president for academic affairs at North Carolina State University and executive dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio State University.

How good are they?
Like any successful opening act, the Chicago Bears' "Green Bay Massacre" left us eagerly anticipating more from the actors on stage. Where is the story heading? What can the Chicago NFL Repertory Group do for an encore? Right now, of course, only the encore matters. A week from now, only the next encore will matter. And so on and so on until all of the acts are finished. (At which time, we'll promptly look ahead to what's in store for 2007.) Yes, as boffo as Sunday's performance was by the Bears, it already is ancient history. In the unforgiving context of sports entertainment, the future is everything. Fortunately for the viewing public, things only promise to get more interesting from here on out. The first quarter of the Bears' schedule seems to have been concocted by a playwright with a flair for pacing.
