| Fire Chief search well under way
With extensive advertising and an aggressive time line to hire, Beaver Dam should soon have a new fire chief. The announcement was made Monday night as the police and fire commission met at city hall. Mike Zimmerman of Attorneys Process Investigators, the firm leading the job search, reported on the progress so far. The task is to replace Del Yaroch, the veteran chief who left the job earlier this year. "We're going to try to get a new chief hired by the first of January," said Zimmerman. "I think that's do-able." He indicated that in the search for a "highly qualified individual" some sort of preliminary assessment should be used before anyone is brought in for an interview. Zimmerman said that such a tool could tell a lot about the candidate before any of them are met face-to-face.

Indian American behind website for mothers
New York, Sep 13 (IANS) An Indian American woman in Texas is the brain behind a new website that is dedicated to mothers and mothers alone.Shetal Patel of Austin, Texas, found herself with too many baby items when her second child turned one. So, she decided to go online and put up the items for sale. When she realized that there was no such website that is dedicated to mothers, she hired a web developer and launched a site for the buying and selling of used baby and children's items."The idea for this site came to me when I realised the value of being a mother and helping other moms," Patel says in the website."After I had my children, I developed immediate bond with other moms - the mom next door or the mom at a grocery store or a mom in another country."MomsSpace.com is a person-to-person marketplace, according to a press release. With feedback and suggestions from friends, more features were added to the website, so much so that now Patel believes that it has "something for every mom".Today, MomsSpace.com contains a product catalog, a job section, a baby of the week contest, news articles, section offering deals for moms, and a discussion forum where moms can share experiences and advice."When you can go to one site and make financial transactions as well as personal interactions, you're likely to revisit that site," the release quoted Patel as saying."On MomsSpace.com, you can purchase a gently used Diaper Genie, post your baby's photo, browse through job listings or share a story about breastfeeding.
